The Utah Lake River. (Aka Jordan river)
I know I have already talked about this before the Jordan river. But this is the same thing except you are right in front of Utah Lake. Pretty good fishing there. I have never caught anything there I have seen people bring up pretty big bluegills and White Bass. I have seen people use spinners there jig bait. They fish right by the pumps. Some people used worms. Me and my friend used some stinky catfish bait but that didn't work we got some hits but didn't pull up a fish. But I will get back to you when get some more information about the place and when I catch a fish there..
A Pond.
This is a pond me and my friend discovered. And it has fish bluegills, perch, cats, and Common carp. It is really clean water we use spinners and jig bait. It works great any bait basically works there you will always catch something no matter what. I just wanted to talk about because its one of the fishing spots I have been to but the only problem is that nobody really knows where it is so there is no purpose talking about it.
What A beginner Fisherman Should get.
I think that for starts you should get a basic tackle box nothing big. But it all depends on what your aiming to catch to put in your tackle box it depends on what you need. Differnet fish need different types of tackle. For example this whole time im going to be using rainbow trout as my example. For this fish you will need light tackle. For the fishing pole I would get a medium action fishing pole. The line size about 4 pounds. That should be good enough for a rainbow trout. Now for the bait Earthworms you can never go wrong with that because its a mircale worker. For a earthworm you will need a number 6 size hook. That should do it for the hook. Im kinda all over the place for the information you really need.
Tackle box. Wonderful thing to have keeps your tackle nice and neat. You don't need much to fish. You will need pilers, hooks, weights, extra line, bait (power bait, salmon eggs) bubbles, bobbers, Swivel, something to string your fish up and gloves if your chicken to touch the fish the first time every has that time. And now I will go into detail about each iteam and its purposes.
Pilers- Pretty much needed to take the hook out of the fishes mouth. You can take the hook out with your fingers but if its to deep in there you will need them most likley. They are great and you can pick up a pretty nice set anywhere for 2 dollars. And that will do for pilers.
Hooks- There are so many different hooks. Circle hooks, gang hooks, treable hooks, worm hooks, and others tons and tons of others that you might need if your a serious hardcore fisherman. Okay first I will talk about the treable hooks. They are great for one purpose and one purpose I know of is Powerbait. Smelly colored man mad bait. Great stuff for some rainbow trout fishing power bait is made for the treable because it sticks on pretty good and you can feel the strike unlike the earthworm hook that you could put a huge chunk of fish bait on it powerbait and you will not feel the strike. Okay the earthworm hook is a basic need for your tackle number 6 hook would be good for earthworms of course. This is only if you want to use earthworms. But its still a good idea to get some and keep some in your tackle box. The salmon egg hook nothing special about it except its tiny it is size 10 which is pretty small. They are made for salmon eggs and you put 2 of them on one of the hooks. And that will do for the hooks a lot of information to absorb for hooks basic information.
Weights- Pretty important stuff. The weights help you cast farther and helps you get to the bottom if you are catfishing. There are all types of weights I would get some split-shots and some egg weights for starters. That should get you by for a while there is nothing really special about the weights except that you need them.
Extra Line- This is what you need. But it all depends on what your fishing. But for our example we are using rainbow trout. So this extra line will be used as extra line or liter line. Liter line is what you use to make it go farther down in the water. If you buy the pre-made hooks that already have the loop and the fisher mans knot on then it only has a little bit of line that you could attach your swivel on it. But this liter line just basically makes the hook sink farther down just more line so the fish can't see your swivel. And that is why you should get extra line. You don't have to get it but its a idea.
Bubble and Bobbers- These things are good for fishing in ponds and fishing fish that don't fall to the bottom. The keep your line for sinking all the way down they are just a sensor that tells you that you have a fish. Personally I like the bubbles better you can leave a lot of slack in your line and the string just goes right through the bubble so you could sink your hook deeper in the water and use it as a sensor but must people dont use bobbers or bubbles. Its just one thing you might need just in case. I would get one of the either just in case. Bobbers are basically something that you just clip on and it stays on the same place you put in it.
Power Bait, Salmon Eggs- Power bait is man made bait that is use to attract certain fish that is a lot of different types. Different Colors. Power bait is something incase you brought earthworms and everyone is catching fish with power bait and you didn't bring anything. So that is everything you need to know about power bait. Salmon eggs are good to have but they have to be fresh they all just back each other up in some different ways. So if you see people catching fish on salmon eggs rig your rod up right and you will be catching fish like crazy. That will do it for man made bait for now.
Swivel- It holds almost everything in place it makes life easyer when your fishing. So your could rig up a special salmon egg rig with a loop and all the liter line. And all you have to do is attach the loop to the swivel and when your done you just take it off and switch it off.
Chains, String- This will help you keep your fish if you want to keep it and eat it. Chains is one of the best ideas I have heard because its just basically I huge swivel you put the long metal line into the gill until it reachs, the mouth and clip it its easy and just easy. Strings are a little dirty you put the little metal thing through the mouth and the gill and string it up not as fast but cheaper in 1 dollar.
Gloves- Why do I say gloves because some people are nervous about touching a fish. And the special gloves do get your hands stinky and you just have to touch the fish with your gloves. And after you take little baby steps you will be able to take off the glove and touch the fish. And I like to use the glove for catfishing because I don't like to touch catfish. And that should take you through your basic fishing guide I will post more stuff about it.

Skyler's Pond. Logan, UT
Skyler's pond a little kid fishing spot. You have to be under 14 I think to fish there. But I see people that fish there all the time that are a lot older than that. Well what the pond contains is Rainbow Trout, Bluegill, Channel catfish, and white trout.
There isn't really much to say about it everytime you go there you seem to always catch a fish. It is very easy set up for your rod. Basically saying you need a bubble, split shot weight 1, treable or six 6 worm hook. And of course the swivel. What seems to work the best for me is bright green power bait. It works really good there. I have caught a 14 in rainbow that isn't really that big but for a pond that is small like that I think that its pretty good. It's pretty good fishing there for some little kids but still pretty fun to catch that fish.

Tibble Fort Reservoir. American Fork Canyon
I have been there a lot of times. First 2 times haven't caught anything didn't rig it up right. But after i riged it up right I just kept catching those rainbow trouts. Well first of all you need a small swivel. Then put on about 1 foot of liter line, including your number 10 hook salmon egg. put on the egg sinker than put the swivel on. Put about 2 salmon eggs. The ones that have help me catch are the Best Bite Salmon eggs. They don't get gross and the keep there shape and color. Well thats just what I think. So after that Cast out in the calm water DO NOT BOBBER IT. That is the number one rule when your fishing out there. Okay Watch the tip of your rod strong hits yank it in and bring that fish in.The size of the fish you bring in are about the average the keeping size. Its pretty good fishing only caught rainbows there.
Jordan River
This is the thing about the Jordan River. Everyone thinks its dirty and there is no life in it because you can't really see anything living in it. But that all changes when you pull up that Channel Catfish. Weird white thing never seen before. But I will tell you that there is life and that you can catch things up there.
The Jordan river is huge big long stretch of river that stretchs from Utah Lake and drains into the Great Salt Lake. But there is a thing that will help you catch something in there. First get a egg sinker put it on then attach a swivel. After that put your hook in and attach a worm. A earthworm is the only thing that works in there. We have tried shrimp but only caught a mud cat on that and it wasn't big at all!!!! But people that ive seen fish there say that shrimp is a mircale worker there. But earthworms would be the choice.
That river contain White Bass, Channel Catfish, Mud cat, Common Carp, and the redtail catfish. I have caught all that have been in there my secert is the earthworm. I have caught them all on a earthworm.
The thing about catfish is that they are bottom feeders. The feed on the bottom. They like that so the deeper you get you will maybe get a decent channel catfish. They aren't very good catfish to eat i have heared but they are to fun to catch because they put up a great fight. The reason I say they are not good to eat is because people say that the Jordan River has mercury posion in it and that is not very good is it.
Well the sizes I have caught the biggest catfish is about 15 inches not very big it was a channel catfish. Mud cats aren't very big but they can weigh pretty big for a small size.
Now the Common Carp. Also know as the Overgrown goldfish. They are huge pretty big size put up a way good fight they fight and fight. Since you think that the river is dirty and has a lot of crap in it then you would think that you have got caughting on something. But that is wrong when something is dragging you line away and gets you kinda tired. This fish is fun to catch to much fun. But not good to eat because all they eat is garbage.
So pretty much I would recommend this fishing spot to beginer fishers because know matter where you fish on that river you have a good chance of pulling something up.
